Asking urgent questions about drag today, this event is an open discussion for artists, performers and those interested in taking a critical and constructive eye to the contemporary moment in queer performance culture.
In the shadow of RuPaul’s Drag Race and its explosion as a worldwide phenomenon via Netflix, the art of drag has been experiencing an unprecedented period of visibility. When drag has historically been more readily associated with a subversive queer performance practice, what happens in this shift from subculture to the mainstream?
The conversation will be hosted by drag performer Georgeous Michael (they/him), with short introductions from the panel. Following the introductions, participants will be invited to take part in the discussion.
The event is FREE but please book as spaces will be limited.
