Retro Bar

Have you ever done that thing? You walk into a bar you realise you haven’t visited for years and say to yourself – ‘why did I forget about this place and why haven’t I been here for so long.’ This is a bar that is cosy, it’s friendly, it’s tucked slightly out of the way but central, (close to Charing Cross off the Strand). It’s atmospheric and it doesn’t charge outrageous prices for good booze. Oh, and the music through the week is an eclectic mix of eighties, nineties, noughties: ‘fab punk, rock 'n' roll, glam, trash, sleaze, slutty pop, electronic goodness’ (Retro Bar words – couldn’t put it better myself) – with a downstairs dance bar to let off steam…

So, say hello (again) to Retro Bar! Thankfully, although your intrepid OutSavvy reporter and chums, foolishly hadn't been here for a while, plenty of folk have – and they go back again and again to meet friends, make new connections and to check out the fun campy, trashy, draggy, evenings throughout the week.  Check listings for regular and guest DJs playing upstairs and downstairs and fun Quiz Nights, long a fixture here at Retro Bar. (we should bone up on Wikipedia and stories in OK magazine and get Team OutSavvy ready).

So, if you like a neighbourhood feel bar where everyone is welcome (leave pretentiousness at the door) this the place. Meet up here with with your mates and stay for the night, or as a starting point for an evening of varying degrees of mayhem. Sorry its been so long Retro Bar – we will be back!
