The Phoenix Artist Club

The Phoenix Artist Club

Hidden away on Phoenix Street, beneath The Phoenix Theatre, lies a charming little basement bar and restaurant called The Phoenix Artist Club. It looks and smells like a private member’s club and, in fact, it is a private member’s club. However, the bar is open to the public until 8pm every day and you can easily become a member for £200 per year.

The main room is dedicated to dining: you can indulge into some seasonal British cuisine in the evening or grab a late night pizza snack at the bar. The back room runs functions and gigs (expect some impromptu performances from London's most talented performers). The area is covered in signed posters, paintings and pictures from decades of theatre productions.

Over the years, stars like Keira Knightley, Jude Law, David Soul and Janice Dickinson have  come to The Phoenix Artist Club to enjoy a cocktail and watch some performances on stage. Internationally ignored drag superstar, Vanity Von Glow, performs a show every Sunday evening and it’s open to public all night (but shhh, that’s Outsavvy-exclusive, only you know this *wink*).

The drinks menu is very extensive. There’s a good selection of keg beers, house wines and cocktails. Their cocktails are inspired by the West End and cost just £9 (our favourite is 'Simply Cut Throat' which is served with a 'meat' pie). The pre-theatre menu starts from £6 and has anything from homemade chocolate parfait to classic fish and chips.

The Phoenix Artists Club has recently extended its working hours in order to attract professionals for lunch meetings and entrepreneurs ‘working from home’.
