Gay Men's social networking: The Omyx Club's First Birthday, November 7

The Omyx Club is a fast-growing club for gay men to network, socialise and connect at events in London and for single members to find more meaningful relationships online.

It has now reached its milestone, first birthday.

Within its first year, The Omyx Club has taken on more than 2,000 members and hosted 14 events. Omyx offers a friendly, attitude-free and welcoming alternative space to the gay scene. The events, held at a private bar in The Clarence on Whitehall, provide attendees with a welcome drink and the space to meet new friends, connect with like-minded individuals and feel relaxed.

Following market research that found many gay males felt that the current gay scene was ‘unappealing’, The Omyx Club was founded by young entrepreneur Edward Johnson, in order to specifically address the gap in the market that many websites and apps aimed at gay men fail to acknowledge; particularly in supporting the social, cultural and romantic aspects of life.

Membership to the club is £9.50 per month and includes complimentary access to the monthly social event. Alternatively, those looking to attend can purchase one-off event tickets without the requirement of membership. Membership unlocks access to the online network, aimed at giving its single members a more meaningful space for gay dating.

Edward Johnson comments: “The Omyx Club is a friendly, welcoming and fun virtual members club for gay men who want a service that encompasses networking, socialising, and enjoying what London has to offer with likeminded individuals. I felt there was a gap in the market for something like this within the gay community and market research that I carried out reinforced this – highlighting that the current gay scene was ‘unappealing’ to many.

Our events see a diverse range of attendees – with members who are single, partnered and married, those who are working, studying or retired and with our youngest members in their early twenties and our oldest members in their mid-eighties, it really is somewhere open and welcome to everyone. The dating website we run, alongside our events, gives our single members the opportunity to date in a space we feel has been missing from the gay scene. A dating website with the ultimate goal of finding a relationship.”
