Sodom and Begorrah at The Glory - The Irish are coming!

Last week, OutSavvy sat down with two great talents on the queer cabaret circuit, over a pint or two in the Glory, in East London.

Xnthony and Annie Pics have come together to bring you Sodom and Begorrah. This will be London’s first Irish Queer Party when they ‘take over’ the Glory for one night on Friday June 16; a night of Blarney, pink, green, and wild partying – just what you would expect with the pair of them, following Xnthony’s sell out St Patrick’s Day party, Culchie Cabaret.

But hurry! You may not have time to get to the bottom of this wee article and still be able to get your advance tickets, because, they ‘are selling like poteen fresh from the bathtub… fast like.’

Right, back to the story. We asked them a bit about what the audience will expect on the night.  Downstairs, Xnthony a real ‘livewire’ on the queer performance scene, if ever there was, will MC the show and bring together talent with a distinctly Irish flavour.

As they say it’s a bit of ceoil agus craic, ceilidhs and shillelaghs, Riverdance! Barry’s Tea! whiskey! Sinead O’Connor! Enya! And more Irish pride than you can shake a stick at! Think Celtic Tiger, but BOOM rather than bust. Xnthony's shows are fun (no chance of them being serious, that’s for sure) and experimental. They are combustible.  Anything can happen, and it usually does. He describes himself as a ‘hot mess’ and his enthusiasm is infectious – the audience cannot help but get into the spirit of things.

Annie Pics, dizzying delicious drag queen – who’s path crossed with Xnthony, when both were studying at Dublin’s National College of Art and Design, a few years back, will be DJing upstairs, as well as offering a night of ‘she-nanigans’ (her Paddy’s night was show was quite something) and introducing a few surprise guests as well as her ‘licentious lassies.’  The music will be feel-good uplifting, 80s pop – perfect for a night like this.

Sodom and Begorrah is going to be a very Irish night… open to all, Irish and non-Irish alike… and who knows, maybe a desperate Brit or two will find nice Irish fellas for that all important EU passport…  Erin Go Bragh!!!
