'Superficial' is a riotous carnival through the pop music, masculinity and drag of the London gay scene. Set in a fictional gay club, the lives of new muscley barman Sam, hedonist drag queen Ibiza Chilltape, Kylie fanatic JJ and club owner Benjamin intertwine until an explosive climax at Pride night.
With pop songs performed within the play by a talented cast, the play addresses the charge of pop being superficial, and looks to what meaning the music, and divas, bring to gay men.
