When you arrive you will be taken by coaches to Winchester’s city centre, where you can visit the magnificent cathedral. Alternatively you can head straight to the Christmas Market, it’s the perfect place for a spot of seasonal shopping and a festive drink or two.
On return to the train you are greeted with a glittering champagne reception. The culinary delights continue with a four-course dinner, complemented by our sommelier’s choice of wine.

WINCHESTER CHRISTMAS MARKET
Historic Winchester is always a delight to visit, but even more so at Christmas when the festive market is set up in the superb setting of Cathedral Close. Browse a variety of stalls and be enticed by the aromas of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts. If time, visit the gothic cathedral. It houses a number of ancient and contemporary treasures, including Antony Gormley’s famous sculpture of a man who is submerged whenever the crypt floods.

Please note that Belmond British Pullman operates within the constraints of the rail network. All details shown initially on your confirmation are for guidance only. Your travel documentation including your full itinerary and confirmed timings will be sent to you five to seven days prior to departure. Please arrive 20 minutes before departure time.
WARDROBE NOTES
Smart casual wear (but not jeans or trainers) is appropriate. For Belmond British Pullman dinner departures, more formal wear is customary. A jacket and a tie for men is required at Royal Ascot and other race excursions. For outdoor events, please wear practical clothing, appropriate for the weather conditions.
DINING
Your fare includes table d’hôte meals on the journey. Menus are subject to seasonal change. If you have any special dietary requirements, make sure to advise us when booking and Belmond British Pullman will do their best to comply. Belmond British Pullman is, however, unable to provide meals requiring strict religious observance in their preparation.
SMOKING
Due to European regulations banning smoking on trains, Belmond British Pullman operates a no smoking policy aboard the Belmond British Pullman and Belmond Northern Belle.
MOBILE PHONES & HANDHELD DEVICES
Out of consideration for your fellow passengers, please turn off mobile phones and handheld devices whilst in your carriage.
INSURANCE
The company recommends that you and your party purchase adequate travel insurance for your trip, including cover for loss of deposits and/or other costs that you might incur if you cancel your reservation. We cannot be held responsible for any losses of this kind.
DISABLED PASSENGERS
We regret that Belmond British Pullman carriages cannot be boarded in wheelchairs. However, staff is available to assist any passengers to their seats and folding wheelchairs can be stored in the vestibules. Some excursions are more suitable for disabled travellers than others. Please ask for details.
BELMOND BRITISH PULLMAN CARRIAGE INFORMATION
At any given time, Belmond British Pullman operates between eight and 11 passenger carriages. There are four different styles of Pullman carriage, seating between 20 and 26 passengers with various seating combinations made up of tables for one, two, three and coupes (private compartments) seating four.
Please note that at busy times, parties of two may be seated sharing a coupe with another party of two.
