Geri Parlby: From Garbo to Garland: The Magical Art of Hollywood.

Lights, Camera, Action! – The inside stories of the art and artifice of the early decades of Hollywood. This lecture will feature the behind the scenes stories photographers, costumiers, make-up artists, designers, technicians and the actors and actresses who created the magic of the silver screen.
Geri is a former journalist and was head of Press for United International Pictures throughout the 1980s. She has a Masters in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute and a Theology doctorate from Roehampton University in London. She has been lecturing for the past 15 years both in the UK and internationally. She is also principal lecturer on the South West Area Arts Society History of Art course and is an Honorary Research Fellow at Roehampton University.
