This inaugural exhibition brings together photography, painting, drawing and poetry to share lived experiences of sexual violence across lives. The survivors who have contributed to this exhibition experienced abuse at different stages. For some, the violence began in early childhood – one survivor was just three years old when she was raped. Others experienced sexual violence later in life, including over many years and involving multiple perpetrators.
These works are acts of courage. They bear witness to the enduring impact of sexual violence across generations, and to the strength, creativity and resilience of those who refuse to be silenced. Through art, survivors reclaim their voices, their narratives and their power. This exhibition invites you to pause, to witness, and to stand in solidarity.
Content Warning: This exhibition contains references to sexual violence, abuse, suicidal ideation and trauma. Some imagery and language may be distressing. Please take care while viewing. If you need support during the exhibition, please talk to a member of Rape Crisis South London staff.
