Come celebrate local FLINTA radio station Red Rebel FM's Second birthday at the one and only Margate Arts Club!
We are incredibly proud to host this milestone as the official opening party for the Thanet Mushroom Festival 2026: Sporefaring. Just like the subterranean fungi networks that sustain the world, our FLINTA station thrives on interconnected community roots.
Women were the world's first foragers after all, deeply attuned to the cycles of the earth and the hidden secrets of the soil. Today, that ancestral connection lives on and like mycelium beneath the earth, our FLINTA community grows quietly in the underground —sharing knowledge, building resilience and breaking through!
So join us for a very special party to celebrate this milestone, only made possible by the dedication, commitment and hard work of our fabulous DJs!!

As well as a bangin party the night will also be a little fundraiser as we rely on donations to keep the station running. As well as licence fees, we have software, subscriptions and other production costs every month. We are all volunteers and dedicated to building and telling the world about our little community in Thanet and beyond so that we can bring more opportunities to all the emerging and existing FLINTA talent out there - so every penny really helps!
And if you really want to show support AND look like an absolute BADASS you can grab one of our exclusive T-shirts! We will have a small selection available to buy on the night!!
We can't wait to see you there!
Big love x
ABOUT SPOREFARING FESTIVAL
Sporefaring, the Isle of Thanet’s grassroots festival dedicated to mycology, land-connection, and community gathering, has officially unveiled its highly anticipated 2026 programming. Running across the weekend of 16–18 October 2026, the festival sits intentionally at the absolute peak of the UK fungal fruiting season.
Rooted along the East Kent coastline where the intertidal space meets two different worlds, Sporefaring is a celebration of our ancestral roots, seasonal rituals, and the deep network of support beneath our feet. Following a highly successful inaugural year that drew a dedicated group of curious attendees, this year’s festival opens its doors wider to the whole community. From foraging and folklore to future-proofing design, the weekend explores the magic of mushrooms as tools for connection, survival, and contemporary storytelling.
Centring a festival around mushrooms, spores, and mycelium instinctively grounds those who attend, creating a vital space where people gather to absorb ecological ideas before dispersing to grow new community connections.

ABOUT RED REBEL FM
Red Rebel FM is the world’s first period-positive online radio station and collective, dedicated to championing FLINTA in the underground electronic music scene. Founded in 2024 by DJ and menstrual health advocate Lisa Higgins, the platform broadcasts a diverse range of genres—including house, techno, garage, and drum & bass—while actively dismantling taboos surrounding menstruation and menstrual mental health. By combining cutting-edge music broadcasting with community workshops and cycle-awareness education, Red Rebel FM provides an inclusive, supportive space that empowers underrepresented talent both on the airwaves and behind the scenes. In October 2026 they are launching a youth DJ Training programme after receiving funding from Youth Music and Beatport's Trailblazer Fund. For more information, visit redrebelfm.com.
