If you are LGBTI+ and disabled, please join us online on 15th September at 6pm. We would like to hear from you about experiences of prejudice and hate crime you might have experienced, or know about happening to LGBTI+ disabled people.
The event will last one hour, with a ten minute break. You will receive a £10 voucher for your time.
The purpose of this event is to support and inform the Hate Crime Strategy which the Scottish Government has committed to. This Hate Crime Strategy will help the new Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Bill work better for people.
The Bill and its Strategy must be informed by our communities if they are to work for us. To make sure this happens, we are gathering research, evidence, and experiences from the LGBTI+ community, so that support and services are designed with us in mind.
LGBTI+ disabled people are often under-represented or left out of research, even though hate crimes are more common in the LGBTI+ disabled community, and LGBTI+ disabled people have unique experiences of prejudice, and specific challenges in reporting hate. We want to hear from you so that people are properly considered in the new Hate Crime Strategy.
Findings from this online meeting will be anonymised, written up, and presented at the Hate Crime Conference in October 2022, alongside a literature review. This will be presented to the Scottish Government and other key decision makers.
Please let us know if you have any access requirements.
