Sanctuary is about creating a regular space to foster a sense of connection and belonging. A place where we can feel fully seen and heard in our hearts and where we can meet each other as men in the most simplest of our needs; to be loved and accepted just as we are.
We meet regularly to build a sense of community among men in the city. For around three hours we sit together in guided meditation and embodiment practice, check in and share with each other whatever is current for us in our lives and enjoy a closing ritual of mutual therapeutic touch and holding.
The group will be invited to take part in a number of exercises designed to facilitate better connection with ourselves and each other:
- The evening takes place fully clothed.
- We will use guided meditation and ritual to arrive at a sense of embodiment and in the space.
- We will engage in a sharing circle to bond through vulnerability and empathic listening.
- Using play, we will find our way into touch with one another that is consensual and non-sexual (think massive cuddle pile).
- Finally, using sound and a sense of ritual, we will float away with each other for a while with a sense of safety and relief.
This circle is for you if you have ever:
- Wanted to explore your connection to other men in a sober, intentional space.
- Wanted to make new friends with other men in a different and more intimate environment.
- Wanted to explore your spirituality with other men.
- Are curious about what connection with other men might feel like beyond sex and substances.
- Have felt like a bit of an outsider and are looking for a community more aligned with your values.
Our circle takes place clothed - so please arrive or prepare to change into something comfortable and warm. Light refreshments will be provided - but participants are encouraged to bring snacks to share :)
