The 4th instalment of Ordinary Stories will take place on Wednesday the 12th of October at The Shaftesbury Tavern. The theme is LEGACY
Ordinary Stories is community engagement event and an opportunity to ✨infuse✨ what’s out there with our own Ordinary Stories. Personal little anecdotes, told in a casual manner. Sort of like an open mic - but for stories.
Things that have happened to you, maybe lessons you've learned, things that happened to someone close to you, experiences that have changed you or helped you to grow or funny little memories that have stayed with you.
We'll also feature poetry, short stories and any other forms of performance or storytelling - as long as they're under 5 minutes.
The event’s theme is “LEGACY," so your stories could be about…
The tales that were passed down through generations, the hand-me-downs you still wear. Family trees and discovering your ancestry. History. Fables and mythology.
Customs, traditions, ceremonies and celebrations. Generational wealth, generational trauma, generational curses. Gifts or talents you may have inherited. Skills or techniques that were passed down to you. Family recipes. Memories of learning to sew or cook or create with an aunt or grandparent. Talismans and sentimental items.
What was left for you, what you'll leave behind. Progress, revolution, what it means to make an impact. Our relationship with the environment. The world we make for future generations.
Anything that connects you with legacy.
Your stories might be funny or sad, wholesome, romantic, or maybe even a little embarrassing, but all unique and extraordinary in their own way.
If you’d like to tell a story, please use this google form to register (or sign up on the night).
Ordinary Stories is open to all members of the LGBTQ+ community and we welcome allies as audience members.
