Forever montaging; LXVI presents a collage of their existing work in a new hybrid format. Drawing from their longstanding influence in nightlife and interdisciplinary practice of Music, Media, Film and Performance. LXVI brings his ideological architecture into Hypha Studios with the ‘States of Exchange’ Exhibition, organised by the DFA Arts Exchange for an exploration of black contemporary performance.
As a 2022 British Council Venice Biennale Fellow LXVI draws influence from Sonia Boyce’s ‘Feeling Her Way’ and also installation artist Isaac Julien to re-imagine black and queer representations.
The exhibition space will be open from 18.00 and you are welcome to come and check out the other artists’ work featured in ‘States of Exchange’. Doors to ‘Unfinished Business’ open at 18.15 so please arrive before this ready for the performance at 18.30.
‘Unfinished Business’ has a running time of approximately 30mins. Unfinished Business is a film-centred installation that explores the intricate relationship between black masculinity and queer community. Followed by an informal Q&A in a relaxed environment. Unfinished business will draw to a close at 20.00, after which you are welcome to finish exploring ‘States of Exchange’.
‘States of Exchange’ is an exhibition that explores social interaction through place, memory and time. Reflecting on relations between cooperation, exchange, inequality, power and status. A percentage of the proceeds of this event will be donated to the DFA Arts Exchange and the Hypha Studios Charity.
