Have you always wanted to create a print of your favourite carabiner, your trusty old pair of Docs, or perhaps your lucky jockstrap - Then I've got the workshop for you!
Welcome to Calm Carving at The Glitch, Waterloo. Perfect for all levels of experience, during the workshop I will take you through all the steps of lino printing using various queer archive images and objects as ideas for your prints. If you have a particular item that you'd like to bring with you, please do!
During a 2-hour session, I will take you through every part of the process, whatever your skill level, and you'll leave with your very own personally designed lino print! A relaxed environment for all queer people to get together and be creative.
All art materials will be provided and you will get to leave with your finished lino block and any prints you have made!
DATES:
16th September - Regular lino printing
28th October - Tote Bag Printing (tote bags will be provided, but feel free to bring an old t-shirt or fabric to try your hand at printing on)
25th November - Wrapping Paper Printing (recycled kraft wrapping paper rolls will be provided, participants will leave with 1m piece of wrapping paper for gifts)
ACCESSIBILITY:
There are 15 steps to get down to The Spacement in The Glitch, there is a handrail to the left hand side when descending the steps. There is an accessible bathroom available on the street level. The venue offers a selection of beverages on the street level.
VENUE:
The event is held downstairs in The Glitch, 134 Lower Marsh, Waterloo, SE1 7AE
The Glitch is just a couple of minutes walk away from both Waterloo and Lambeth North stations, and a 10 minute walk from the London Eye and the South Bank.
TICKET TIERS:
Low/No-Income tickets are available for £15-20 for those who have limited income. No questions or verification will be required, it is operating on an honor system. The price of the ticket covers the venue hire fee as well as basic materials.
Trans and/or POC tickets are available for £20-25 for those who are trans or people of the global majority. The price of the ticket covers the venue hire fee, basic materials and anything left over goes towards paying me for my teaching time.
Full price tickets are available for £25-30. The price of the ticket covers the venue hire fee, basic materials and my teaching time.
