THE CAMBERWELL CEILIDH CLUB IS BACK!
SATURDAY 23RD SEPT 2023 7.30-10.30PM
This is the credit crunch ceilidh so we are
BYOB / BYOF / LICENSED BAR
After our first few CCC sessions earlier this year we've been taking a break but now the summer is nearly over (did it ever start?), get ready for some more highland flings and the stripping of the willow!
We're mixing some things up and keeping other bits the same. If you want to know more, see below.
First off we have the Ceilidh Liberation Front and as you might expect from the name, it's going to be a little different.
Ceilidh Liberation Front is London’s most radical and vivacious ceilidh band. Liberating the dancefloor with their energetic new regime of folk dance, they breathe vigour and vitality into the traditional ceilidh, whilst honouring its roots and traditions.
Time Out described their events as “Sweat-busting abandon, subverted dances and party tunes”!
Don't worry we'll make sure there's lots of water on hand to keep you cool.
CLF are part of the Nest Collective, was set up in 2005 by Mercury-nominated artist Sam Lee as a small gathering of music and folk lovers and has grown to become well known internationally for their outstanding emerging and established folk, world and roots artists from across the globe.

NEVER BEEN TO A CEILIDH BEFORE?
NO PROBLEM!
…It’s perfect for dancers of all abilities (no experience necessary!) Even if you don’t know the steps, enthusiasm will more than make up for it: ceilidh dancing is all about having fun, so dance energetically and with gusto!
Ceilidhs are also perfect for a group night out - there will be plenty of opportunity for everyone to reel around the dancefloor!
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?
- There is no dress code for this event: Kilts and tartan are always positively encouraged as well as the un-kilted. Dress to dance! You will be peeling off layers as you heat up over the evening.
- Wear comfy shoes…and please, LEAVE YOUR HIGH HEELS AT HOME. We have a strict no-stiletto heels policy for this event on the grounds many feet will be trodden on!
- As it is a cash-strapped time of year for us all, we are making this a night we can all afford: You are welcome to bring your own booze / bring your own food , however, we will of course have a bar on site to help keep you refreshed.
What's changing?
- We spent the summer contacting lots of Ceilidh bands to find the best and brightest.
- Every ceilidh band is different and we want to showcase the best bands in London and the south east.
- Each month we will have a different band to spice things up for you so you never quite know what to expect (except amazing quality of course).
What's staying the same?
- We want to make sure that the Camberwell Ceilidh Club remains an affordable night out for everyone in the community, young and old. So we have kept ticket prices as low as possible. We've had to raise prices by £1 to reflect the increase costs of hiring the hall and the band.
- We really do want you to bring your kids if you want to. We love seeing kids on the dancefloor at a ceilidh and were really impressed at the last CCC when parents turned up with their 3 month old baby, who slept through the whole night!
- We are a BYOB event! This is the original credit crunch ceilidh so whilst we do have a licensed bar, with beers and wine, as well as snacks, we are more than happy for you to bring your own alcohol, drinks and food. Glasses can be provided at the bar, with a £1 deposit.
