Scrounge is Lucy and Luke - guitar, drums, mic. Since meeting at Goldsmiths University in the middle of the last decade, they've been trying to express how it feels to be a young person living and working in a fast-changing metropolis, balancing the constant pressures of making rent, staying healthy and creating engaged, community-focused art. They've toured hard across the UK and beyond via trains and Megabuses around the country, playing with the likes of Yard Act, Sprints, Talk Show, Piglet, Another Sky, Italia 90 and more. Scrounge make sharp, concise art-punk which adds elements of folk, techno and industrial music into a cocktail of noise-rock and riot grrl, and has led to airplay and interviews on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, Double J, NTS and
more.
Following a successful trip to SXSW in 2022, they returned to the UK for a summer of touring and festivals, leading up to the release of their debut mini-album, Sugar, Daddy - a living, breathing document of all that experience as a band so far – before kicking off 2023 with a sellout tour with punk collective Benefits. The record title and artwork came from a realisation that as a DIY band with full time jobs and radical politics, you can't rely on a mysterious benefactor to make things work – sometimes you have to be your own sugar daddy.
