Sitting comfortably? Hot chocolate in hand? Okay queers, it’s time for the Big Queer Christmas event of the year:
🎄Make The Yuletide Gay:🎄
The Big Queer Christmas Fundraiser
Raising money for gender affirming care for members of the BQP community
This community has come so far. We started as little group of queers coming together on TikTok and now this community has become a hive of activity, with daily chats, events, 2 engagements (so far), countless friendship groups, protests, community care, over 100 subgroups and over 12,000 members. But our trans siblings in this precious community are and have been under threat, even more so now with the recent political climate and government action, so this Christmas I want to take our queer joy and combine it with raising money for 5 different community members’ gender affirming care. Let's take our festive celebration and joy and show the trans members of our community how much we value their presence in our lives,
All profits from The Big Queer Festive Fundraiser will be split between the fundraising pots for Andie Welch, Jay Watson, Zaidi Huda, Takoda Mountains and Natalie Allison. These funds will go towards surgeries and other healthcare costs. A lot of us in the community don’t have to pay extortionate amounts of money to feel gender euphoria in our body, let’s redress the balance.
There will be drag, there will be a raffle, there will be festive cocktails/mocktails and of course there will be dancing. Performers to be announced on @bigqueerpicnic at a later date.
If you are able to donate a prize for our raffle to help us raise the most money possible, please get in contact! Equally if you have any other fundraising ideas for things we can do on the night, our DMs are open.
Dress code: Formal Festive Glam (please interpret the dress code in a way that still makes you comfortable and euphoric in your queerness)
The venue is wheelchair accessible and the music will be at a volume that has been deemed more accessible for neurodivergent people (whilst still being good for dancing!). There isn’t a welfare space at the venue but there will be welfare volunteers in the space if you need help. There will be an in-depth accessibility info post on the @bigqueerpicnic instagram. If you have access needs, please select an ‘Access Ticket’. These tickets are the same as general admission, but entitles you to a purple wristband that means you will not have to wait in the bar queue or the toilet queue, and means we can have a conversation prior to the event about what we can do to meet your needs as much as possible to ensure you can enjoy the event.
As with all BQP events, this event is open to queer people of all genders, but centres queer women, trans and non-binary people.
The ticketing system is as follows:
Pay It Forward Tickets - these tickets are for queers who have more and for allies who are friends and family. Allies are welcome at this event as long as they are invited friends or family of someone queer in attendance and that they are respectful - there are guidelines for allies in attendance below. (more purchases of these allows us to release more low income tickets)
General Admission - reasonably priced tickets that allow you entry
Low Income Tickets - for queers who need them. Please message on here or on @bigqueerpicnic for the discount code.
Access Tickets - For queers who have access needs and wish to make us aware of them/get a wristband that ensures no prolonged standing in queues. Seats will be reserved for those with Access Tickets.
Come bedazzled, ready to support your fellow community members and dance the night away with your fellow queers.
GUIDELINES FOR ALLIES IN ATTENDANCE

Please don’t assume anyone’s gender by looking at them and try to use gender neutral language until you are aware of their gender identity. If someone asks you your pronouns, please respond respectfully.
Consent
Do not touch people without their consent, even if they are a fabulous bedazzled drag queen.
Don’t Stare
BQP events are a safe place for people to dress and behave in a way that brings them euphoria in their queerness. Please don’t stare.
