Hooden Horse Making Workshop
Be a part of Thanet's folk tradition! Make a wooden hooden horse with a snapping jaw using basic hand tools and take it home! No one really knows when horse hoodening began but it was widespread throughout Thanet up until the 20th century. Let's make it widespread again!
The workshop is being run by James Frost, a theatre designer, puppeteer and hoodener who has curated exhibitions on the hooden horse customs of Kent at Maidstone Museum and Herne Bay Seaside Museum.
This is for adults and supervised children over the age of 12. The ticket is per horse (that you then take home!) and groups of up to 5 can work on their horse. No woodwork experience necessary.
Tickets also include entry for all participants to the Bower Street Morris Night for Weird Folk on Saturday the 23rd of December.
Age restriction: 12 plus. There will be activities for smaller people
