There's lots of work happening right now that's being funded by the Scottish Government to help improve gender identity services in Scotland. Join the Lived Experience Coordinator and NHS Education for Scotland for a workshop focused on what NHS staff need to know about caring for trans and non-binary people.
NHS Education for Scotland are developing a Transgender Care Knowledge and Skills Framework for NHS staff. The framework is all about setting out what NHS staff of all levels need to know about caring for trans and non-binary people - from receptionists, nurses and GPs right through to staff that work at gender identity clinics.
David Parker from NHS Education for Scotland will be joining the conversation, so this workshop will give us the opportunity to come together and speak directly to the people developing this framework. Please note that David also works as a clinician at Chalmers (Lothian) Gender Identity Clinic, so please make sure you are comfortable with this.
We'll be talking about what makes a good interaction with NHS staff, as well as talking about what staff across the NHS need to know about caring for us. What is discussed in the workshop will be fed back to the wider team at NHS Education for Scotland who are developing the framework. This will be done confidentially, and no information will be shared that could identify you.
The workshop will run on 30th November 2023 between 5.00-7.30pm. It will be held at NHS Education for Scotland, 3rd Floor, 2 Central Quay, 89 Hydepark Street, Glasgow, G3 8BW. For more info on how to get there click here. We realise that some people may be coming from work to this workshop, so if you need to arrive half an hour or so late, that is totally fine!
We can reimburse your travel costs. If for any reason you can't attend the workshop without your travel expenses being paid in advance, please get in touch with Ryan (ryan@equality-network.org).
The space is wheelchair accessible via a lift, and there is an accessible toilet. For more information on accessibility, click here. We can arrange BSL interpreters with two weeks advance notice (please email Ryan - ryan@equality-network.org).
