Touching The Past, with Tomara Garrod
Tickets Off Sale
To celebrate LGBTQ+ history month, author Tomara Garrod facilitates a workshop using creative writing tools to help us build our own, intimate connection with queer history. Together, we'll use creative writing exercises to reflect on our relation to the past and how it resembles or differs from our present. Tomara will present us with their research into trans medieval England, particularly on the life of Eleanor Rykener, as source material for us to work with. This workshop is open to all, regardless off your experience with creative writing or history. Join us as we explore the past, guided by our emotions and bodily experiences to build intimate relationships with our ancestors.
Tomara Garrod is a writer, performer, and facilitator. This workshop draws on the techniques used to write their debut novel, The Undying Author (Second Spine Press, 2023)
They are a Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for Queer History, producing work for page and stage across genres.
