Communal Clay No.16 @ SET Social, Peckham
MAKE A SCULPTURAL CERAMIC OBJECT USING A CARDBOARD MOULD
This workshop is all about sculpture and using found / waste materials around us.
Part 1 - Using waste cardboard / paper to create a sculpture/3D object - this could be a vessel, abstract object or form.
Part 2 - We will then use slab, pinch & coil techniques to create your form by rolling and pinching clay to press onto the outer or inner surface of the cardboard mould.
Part 3 - Use wild and locally foraged clay slips to add colour and depth to your objects.
Part 4 - Prior to being fired the cardboard mould will be carefully removed from the hardened clay, leaving only the ceramic sculpture. The work will then be fired and glazed in our studio using natural ash glazes.
🌟NEW WORKSHOP FORMAT PLEASE READ🌟
The new workshop format will consist of a single base ticket price of £8.**
Theses workshops will be more focused on the tactility of playing, practicing and learning sculpture techniques.
All clay at the end of the session will be recycled for future use, minimising wastage and keeping our workshops sustainable.
**At the end of the session, if you want to have your work fired and glazed there will be an option to pay an additional fee of £10.
All fired and glazed work will be read to collect in 4-6weeks from SET Social Peckham.
The bar will be open for refreshments during and after the workshop :)
We want to make ceramics affordable and accessible to more people therefore any profits made will be used to run more community clay workshops in the future.
PLEASE READ: Clay and ceramics are fragile materials until fired and glazed, on occasion things can break or become damaged during the drying and firing process', Communal Clay is not responsible for any damage that may occur during these.
