Have you ever wondered about the craft of songwriting and fancied giving it a go? Or perhaps you are a musician looking to flex some skills in collaborative writing? Whether complete beginner or seasoned writer, this 2.5 hour workshop (with break) is the perfect way to connect, learn and create!
You will:
Learn about the songwriting building blocks
Explore different methods of starting a song
Collaborate with others and write together
Create something to take away by the end of the workshop!
No previous experience necessary. Please bring something to write with and on for creating lyrics. If you play an instrument, please feel free to bring along - a guitar and keyboard will be available also.
Tickets are £10 - includes tea & coffee.
The workshop takes place on the new artist residence space on the 5th Floor of Islington Mill - Salford's creative and historic artist hub. The entrance is on James Street, across from the primary school. You will be met in the foyer of the Mill to be taken up to the 5th Floor, and Venn's number will be shared once ticket is booked.

Venn Smyth is a creator and performer of pop bops and ballads. A singer, saxophonist and guitarist, his music has reached No. 1 on LGBTQ Music Chart and been featured on Spotify curated playlists. In 2023 he reached the finals of Brighton Voice of Broadway and semis of London Pride's Got Talent, and this year he was in the final stages of San Marino's competition to find their Eurovision representative. He has been a teacher and workshop facilitator for over 10 years, helping people of all ages create music, express themselves and have some fun along the way! He is currently living in Islington Mill as an Artist Steward.
