The Tiger Lillies and David Hoyle: Lessons in Nihilism
Sold Out
For the first time ever the Grammy nominated, post-punk legends The Tiger Lillies join forces with queer cabaret royalty David Hoyle for a new concert on a theme which has always run through their work - the meaninglessness and absurdity of existence. The Olivier award-winning Godfathers of alternative cabaret The Tiger Lillies have an international reputation for being one of the foremost avant-garde bands in the world, they conjure up the macabre magic of pre-war Berlin and fuse it with the savage edge of punk. One of the first bands to tour Ukraine since war broke out, they released an album to support the people there.
Fireball of avant-garde cabaret, David Hoyle is the original performance avalanche – an all-singing, all-raging bona fide performance legend. He’s appeared in his own Channel 4 TV series, in films and on stages worldwide. David recently presented a three-week long retrospective of his career so far 'Please Feel Free to Ignore My Work' at Aviva Studios in Manchester.
'Hoyle is raw, sometimes frightening, but also thrilling in his look-no-hands recklessness' The Guardian
'It's not surprising that their cult following is worldwide - a Tiger Lillies gig is a journey into wild emotion which passes right through melodrama and out the other side into bizarre beauty’. London Evening Standard ★★★★★
‘In an ideal world, The Tiger Lillies would represent Britain in the Eurovision song contest.’ The Times
