Focus Group for trans people on the new Clinical Standards for Cervical Screening

Join the Scottish Trans Alliance for a focus group on the new Clinical Standards for cervical screening. This focus group is for any trans (including non-binary) person who is or has ever been eligible for cervical screening.

NHS Healthcare Improvement Scotland are reviewing the Clinical Standards for cervical screening. As part of this, they want to consult with people about their experiences of clinical care, the barriers they may experience to accessing screening, their understanding and perception of the process, and how they want to see the standards developed. This is an opportunity to ensure trans voices are also included in these considerations.

Vic from Scottish Trans will facilitate the focus group, which will be audio recorded, and also have notes of the discussion written up. These will be provided to Healthcare Improvement Scotland to contribute to their consultation on the new standards.

Healthcare Improvement Scotland say:

"The consultation period is a key element of the standards development methodology to proactively seek feedback and the views from those who commission, deliver and use cervical screening services. At the end of the consultation period, all comments will be collated and the project group will respond to each comment received. The response will explain how the comments informed the final standards. A summary of the responses to the consultation will be made available on the Healthcare Improvement Scotland website. The final cervical screening standards will be published in early 2019."
