EVERYDAY AND ORDINARY AS ART : We are Moving All the Time
This workshop experiments with everyday & ordinary movements as a movement practice to observe natural patterns and chance-based synchronicity of the body in 'pedestrian' spaces that are deemed unartistic. The goal is to look at this through the eyes of live art practice, not towards any performance generating purpose, just to learn from our body and how it moves itself.
We will use aspects of postmodernist artist/dancer Simone Forti's methods, looking to ”transmitting the concept of kinaesthetic awareness.” Interjecting into our practice games develop by the surrealist artists of the 19th century to stimulate and transgress the physical body, collating an imaginative focus in the re-production of familiar forms.
The workshop host researcher in residence at the Goldsmiths University Theatre and Performance department, Anouska Manion. She is an artist based in London who seeks to design expanded concepts of space; highlighting the potential of space in unconsidered environments; as words on a page, & bodies in performance.
