Come and join the first session of the new Trans+ Death Café! A space for all trans and non-binary people to talk about death and dying openly and freely. Our first session will take the format of a “traditional” death café in that everyone will have the opportunity to talk as much or as little as they want to in a way that works for them, knowing that they will be listened to and respected.
As the session will be close to Transgender Day of Remembrance, I am also inviting people to bring something that represents someone who you would like to remember. The last part of the session will be spent holding space for those memories and people. Engagement with this is completely optional - please consider your own wellbeing first.
Make sure you have some cake or a snack of your choice, a refreshing drink and anything else you might need to feel comfortable during the session. The session will take place via Zoom and in English with captions. The group will be small with a maximum of 12 participants. Please arrive on time! I have set aside a maximum of 3 hours for the session but it may end up ending quicker. Please note that death cafes are not therapeutic spaces but advice can be given on professional grief and bereavement services.
