We're excited to welcome you to our first official daytime Dance Social at SET Social Peckham. As well as all the dancing, we'll be debuting a mini-documentary we've made about our community ✨
About the Class
Designed to give everyone the basics needed to understand the rhythm of salsa, some footwork and partner work (we will ask you whether you want to Lead or Follow during the class)
In this one we will be bringing in some Cuban moves, spins and styling to vibe out. There will be less of a focus on technique and more emphasis on feeling the music, having fun and preparing to dance as part of the social.
You can definitely come alone to this - it's a wonderful way to meet new people, as we swap throughout so you can dance with everyone. However, if you wanna stick with your friend or boo that's totally fine too 🥰
About the Dance Social
Our socials are open to all levels, which is why we are starting with the class. We’ll also be actively facilitating the social by helping you meet new people, guiding you through how it works, and making it easy to approach new dance partners. For the first hour of the social (15:00 - 16:00), some of the more experienced dancers in the community will be taking on the role of Guardian Dancers and will be there specifically to dance with newcomers and beginners.
Midway through the social, we'll take a break for some magical South American folk music by Alex Etchart followed by the debut of the Queer Salsa Documentary.

About the Film & What We're Raising Funds For
We created this documentary to explore queer expression in a partner dances like Salsa. This is a self-funded project that was made entirely out of love. For this event, we are raising funds to recover the cost of the original score composed by the incredible Claudia Medina Quispe, along with some other post-production bits. We gave her complete freedom to experiment with Salsa music through her queer Latinx experience, and it's made the film incredibly special. We can't wait to share and celebrate it with you all for the first time.
Welfare & Accessibility
Along with the Teachers and Host Dancers from the community, there will be a Welfare Team Member floating around the event. They will be there to give any extra support on moves as well as any needs or concerns you might have in order to feel safe and comfy in the space.
We are actively working on making our events as safe and inclusive as possible. Please get in contact with any additional needs you might have that would be useful for us to know about.
Tickets & Fundraiser
We're ideally looking to raise £1,500 to recover all costs. Any excess funds will be donated to IRMO, an organisation providing advice and support to Latin Americans, Spanish, and Portuguese speakers living in the UK, addressing their immediate needs as well as structural inequalities.
There are limited spots available, so get them while you can!
Building off of Queer House Parties ticket tiers we have low income - solidarity tickets. Please read the more info to see which each tier is for.
No-one turned away for lack of funds. Please get in contact if you would like to attend but can't afford the prices.
If you can't make it we have created a donation option. Where we will send you a private link of the film before it goes out publicly 🥰
