This program presents a curated selection of moving image films from the feminist collection of Cinenova, assembled by Otherness Archive. The focus is on *trans masculine works, highlighting their intersection with feminist perspectives, with particular emphasis on the vital role of trans feminist archival practices.
The screening will be followed by a discussion featuring Annette Kennerley, filmmaker and co-organizer of The First International Transgender Film & Video Festival (1997-1999), in conversation with Sweatmother. Together they will explore the significance of Kennerley's work within this context and on the festival's pioneering role in shaping the landscape of transgender representation in the late 1990s.

*Otherness Archive uses the term ‘trans masculine’, we are referring to all the nuances of the trans masc experience in moving image work, and to the various expressions of masculinity found across the trans community including, but not limited to, trans men, non-binary people, dykes, butches, bull daggers, crowdaggers, studs, t-fags and gender non-conforming people. We really want to deconstruct heteropatriarchal barriers to access, such as age restrictions and mislabelling that further obscures trans works of art.
