About
A new comedy night celebrating the good, the bad and the lovely of Irish film.
For a tiny nation of less than 5 million people, Ireland has created some of the world’s most loved, most lol-worthy, most likeable cult films of all time.
Sneak upstairs to the Comedy Room in Camden for a night of chat, laughs and ham sandwiches, as your comedy hosts Ruairi McInerney and Mark T Cox dive deep into the Irish subconscious to examine these classic films from their youth.
Tayto, Tayto, don’t leave me Tayto !
A night at the pictures means tea, Club Orange, a few USA biscuits, and a sea of blushing young fellas at the slightest glimpse of Andrea Corr on screen.
Each month, we select our favourite cult classic, with clips, games and stories celebrating the film, the time and the people it presents.
Our featured film for May is AGNES BROWNE (no, not Mrs. Brown. It’s Agnes Browne. Though it was based on a book written by the same guy, but that’s another story!!).
Set is 1960’s Dublin, AGNES BROWNE tells the story of a woman getting over the sudden death of her husband, struggling to raise her 6 children, aged 2-14. Sounds miserable? It’s not. Agnes and her best bud Marion do what all Dubliners do best - they make do !
This film has inner city charm. Fruit and veg markets. Delicious French bakers. Tom Jones. Big hair. Big fashions. And everything else you NEED from an Irish classic.
Doors open at 7pm and show starts at 7:30pm.
Tea, sandwiches and biscuits served at the interval (bowls of iceberg lettuce for the vegans).
Tickets £6 - advance booking VERY advisable.
