The Girl on the Ledge - Rehearsed Reading
In the eyes of his daughter he's the one and only Superman, but with the life of a fourteen-year-old in his hands, this hostage negotiator’s dream of being the perfect father is only a few cold inches from falling out of reach. But how can he connect with a lost soul like Clementine when he can barely maintain a relationship with his own family? The next hour is about to change Superman's life not only as he fights for his daughter's pride, but as he fights for the girl on the ledge.
The Girl on the Ledge is an original monologue play, shortlisted for the VCA Playwriting Award. Integrating themes of loneliness, loss, and love, this piece asks questions about gender roles and the treatment of women within a male-dominated world, critiquing the hyper-fixated masculine "hero-complex" that is deeply potent within men today. Maybe more than we're willing to confess.
