Our first Deptford meet up is at the Albany CaffA café on the 20th September 12-3pm. Come and meet other people interested in queer platonic coparenting.
Platonic co-parenting is a way of building a family unit beyond traditional nuclear structures, where one or more relations between co-parents is/are based on friendship. In this way, two or more people can share the responsibility of raising a child or children, including financial, emotional, and practical aspects of parenting. This event aims to prioritise building these connections between queer people.
At this special event, our first at the Albany, we'll have two exciting guests:
- Ikmat from Lewisham council, she's the Fostering project lead and she'll be there to answer any questions you might have on fostering in Lewisham and navigating fostering
- Angel who runs Polystation - a group that hosts regular gatherings that bring people together to explore, question, and co-create new ways of relating. He's a co-parent himself and can share his personal experience of being a parent in a multi-parent family. Angel works as an inclusion specialist and coach, and offers ethical non-monogamy and polyamory coaching sessions for individuals and other assemblages.
