Pack your bags, we’re off to the isle of Fernando! Liv Vicariously and DAFT! Events are returning from hibernation to bring back one of our fan favourites - DRAG ME OUT!!
This is an interactive, live gameshow putting a queer twist on the 2000s reality TV staple, Take Me Out. The lead contestants? A league of drag artists bringing comedy, campery and charisma to win the ultimate prize - your hearts!
Sound like something you’d like(y) to take part in? Great! Contestant tickets will be available for purchase on our event page. For £1 more, you’ll be provided with your own light, which will let you decide which of our lead contestants turn you on, and who turns you off. If you’re the last light standing, you’ll win the opportunity to take the drag artist of your dreams out on a date in the hottest spot in town - Wharf Chambers’s smoking area!
The lead contestants are selected to represent a full range of sexualities and genders, so rest assured, there’s someone for everyone!
On top of that, we’re bringing the full 2000s experience to Wharf Chambers by making the event a traffic light party! We’ll be handing out wristbands on the night for all of our audience members (whether you’re taking part or not) to show whether you’re looking for love, looking for friends, or just looking to have a good night. Imagine having the opportunity for your wedding vows to include the line ‘I first knew you were the one when I locked eyes with you as Liv Vicariously shouted ‘I’M DADDY McGUINNESS BABY!!’ while downing a pint.’. If that doesn’t make the ticket price worth it, I don’t know what will!
As always, themed costumes are encouraged, but this time there will be two themes at play! You can either dress according to the traffic light code, or wear your staple outfit that makes you think ‘hell yeah!’ when you look at yourself in the mirror.
So that everyone gets a good view of all our hotties, we have reduced our capacity down to 100 attendees. Contestant tickets are capped at 25 and are likely to sell out, however, you will be given the chance to upgrade your ticket on the night if some contestants can't make it or arrive early/late. The reduced capacity is reflected in the ticket price - if you're struggling to pay for a ticket, please message @itslivvicariously on Instagram for a promo code.
The fine print:
By selecting a ‘contestant ticket’, you will be part of a panel who interact with the lead contestants and hosts. This means that with this ticket, participation from you as an audience member is mandatory. Our usual approach to audience participation focuses on being positive, celebrating and uplifting our audience rather than making jokes at your expense - so don't worry, you won't get roasted unless it's clear you can give it as good as you can get it!
This event is a singles mixer and social event for members of the queer and trans community. Due to the nature of the event, we warmly welcome flirting and friend-making between attendees. Please pay attention to the traffic light system we are employing on the night, as well as respecting the boundaries of our attendees and communicating clearly. We will have a safeguarding warden on the door - if somebody is making you uncomfortable, you are welcome to speak to them to resolve the issue.
We recommend reading this article on consent + flirting beforehand. https://thedragonflycentre.com/consent/flirting-with-consent-in-mind/
Please note: Liv Vicariously and DAFT! Events cannot be held responsible for behaviour that takes place outside of the night. However, if we are informed of any behaviour which could put future attendees at risk, we reserve the right to issue a lifetime ban from our events. Should this happen, we will also raise this with the Wharf Chambers safeguarding team.
House rules/safer spaces [essential reading]: Our safer spaces policy closely aligns with that of Wharf Chambers (See: https://www.wharfchambers.org/safer-spaces/) , whereby no prejudiced behaviour (racism, ableism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, etc), violence, or harrassment is tolerated under any circumstances. As attendees, please be considerate of this and report any breaches to our Safeguarding Officer on the night so that they can deal with it accordingly. Please also be conscious of the space around you - if the room is crowded, please be mindful of other people's personal space.
Accessibility [also essential reading!]: Wharf Chambers is accesible for wheelchair users. Ramps will be down on the night to ensure that the space is entirely step-free. Chairs are available on request for those who need them - if possible, please ask in advance so I have a rough idea of how many people will need them and can account for this. One unavoidable drawback of the event space we use is that it lacks good quality ventilation. If you have cold or flu symptoms which could be contagious, please either mask up or do not attend the show- refunds will be available through Eventbrite up to 24hrs before the event. We are committed to making these shows as accessible as we can - if you have any queries about accessibility before the event, please do not hesitate to ask and we will do our best to accommodate.
DAFT! events prioritises queer, trans and gender variant communities in all of our shows. Allies are always very welcome, provided that they are respectful of the event and other attendees.
You must be a member or guest of a member of Wharf Chambers to attend. Joining costs £2 at https://www.wharfchambers.org/civicrm/contribute/transact/?reset=1&id=1.
This is an 18+ event. Due to the nature of the event, we will be checking ID on the door if we are unsure of your age.
