Dover to Walmer (walk and sea swim)

Come on a chilled, small group walk with like minded queer folks looking to connect with nature. This month we’re doing a beautiful coastal walk along the top of the famous white cliffs from Dover to Walmer in Kent, with an optional sea swim at lunchtime!

Distance: 16km / 9.9 miles
Difficulty rating: Improver*
Walking time: 5 hours
Pace: Not too fast, with a stop at the beach (with a pub) for lunch and an optional sea swim halfway round.
Elevation: A hilly walk with some short but steep hills (Elevation: 2m– 111m. Total ascent: 441 metres).
Accessibility: This walk will be on potentially muddy, unpaved, uneven footpaths, with many steps, with tree roots and some gates/stiles. We’ll be walking at the top of cliffs next to the sea. There will be a wheelchair accessible toilet halfway.
Kit needed: Comfortable shoes you don't mind getting wet/muddy/dusty, waterproof jacket (if rain is forecast), packed lunch and water (at least 1 litre), personal medication, your swimming clothes/towel (optional).

* Improver walks are for people who have been on half day walks before but want a slightly more challenging walk with more hills and more effort required. Everyone is welcome but it is important that we all go at the same pace, so be prepared to walk slower than usual, especially if you are used to walking longer distances more frequently. The idea is to have a chilled time connecting with nature and enjoying the journey together - not ‘smashing the hike' as fast as possible. Snack breaks and pauses to marvel at nature are encouraged!

The walk will take place in any weather, including rain (except in the case of a severe weather warning), so please be prepared to be outside for hours in all weather (see kit list).
No refunds - resale might be possible if there's a waiting list - feel free to give your ticket to a mate - just let me know so I can expect them.

By booking you accept that joining a hike comes with some element of risk.
You are responsible for keeping yourself safe (i.e. being careful on slippery surfaces/near electric fences/barbed wire, staying away from cliff edges) and not putting people or property at risk.
You are responsible for making sure you are medically fit to join the hike - inform me of any medical conditions I need to be aware of to keep you and other people safe.
