Join us on Saturday 9 August 2025 for the Margate Pride March — a powerful, joyful, and radical event that celebrates our community and stands in protest for LGBTQIA+ rights locally, nationally, and globally.
This year’s Pride March will begin at Walpole Bay Lawns, departing at 1pm, and will take us along the seafront to Dreamland with an estimated arrival time of 2pm. Please arrive from 12pm onwards.
🪧 We’re encouraging everyone to bring placards and banners to reflect the causes they care about — from local queer housing issues to international solidarity with LGBTIQ+ communities under threat.
🧱 We are working on a number of solidarity blocs for the march, which will allow people to walk with others who share their values or experiences — for example, trans rights, international solidarity, housing justice, and more. These will be announced closer to the date.
♿ As with last year, there will be an Access Bloc for those with mobility or sensory access needs, and we encourage anyone who’d benefit from joining this to get in touch.
🦺A fully briefed security team will be marching with us to ensure everyone’s safety, with a focus on care, de-escalation, and support — not enforcement.
At Margate Pride, we:
- Celebrate our community, in all it s joy and diversity
- Protest injustice and fight for the rights of LGBTIQ+ people everywhere
- Stand in solidarity with queer people across the world
- Remain proudly corporate-free and environmentally conscious — which means no floats
- Ask that members of political parties, institutions and non-community organisations come as individuals.
This is your Pride — built by and for the community. Register now and be part of a day of celebration, resistance, and queer joy.
How businesses can get involved
As we’re only inviting community groups to walk in the parade, there will be no corporate or local business presence.
We deeply value your support, and there are still plenty of ways for businesses to get involved: from donating to Margate Pride, running a Pride promo, or volunteering staff for the many roles that help make Pride the safe, celebratory festival our community deserves.
We also encourage businesses to sign up to our Friends of Dorothy scheme, and to review our Code of Conduct and Values — showing your commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community, and helping make Margate and beyond a safer, better place for all.
