THE FILM:
Longtime post-productionist Vera Drew got venmoed $10 by a friend to make a 10 minute video lampooning Todd Philip's Joker and while working on it Drew came up with a feature that spiralled into the wacky earnest colourful film screening in a bookshop near you!
Pulling every favour and she managed to get Scott Aukerman, Tim Heidecker, Maria Bamford, David Liebe Hart, Robert Wuhl (who also starred in 1989's Batman), and Bob Odenkirk in the film! You almost weren't able to see it in a book shop near you because the day before premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, Warner Brothers sent a cease and desist letter. But a year and a successful parody law court case later, The People's Joker was unleashed!
THE ORG:
According to their website Sussex Transcendence is "a drop-in and hangout space to chat with other transgender, non-binary and intersex people in West Sussex" and "independently organised by local people that attend in order to maintain it as an informal hangout". Your ticket donations will help keep this group going so trans people in can find and keep community which is especially important during the recent escalation of state repression.
