Death Weaving Group
June 14, 21, 28 | 2 - 4 PM
A 3-part workshop series for LGBTQ+ people with experiences of death, loss and dying.
This craft workshop will aim to provide a healing community-centred space for LGBTQ+ people which will craft with open conversation, while also creating space for participants to reclaim their experience and memorialise loved ones.
Over 3 sessions you’ll learn basic weaving techniques and use them to create textile art inspired by our experiences.
Each session is 2 hours and features a combination of crafting and facilitated conversation. Each week we’ll also look at some of the ways that folk art and textiles have been used in memorial, shrine work and queer arts. By the end of the sessions participants can keep their work.
If you are unsure if you experience is right for this group, or if you have questions about your situation please get in touch.
If you are unable to attend every session please let us know and we will make arrangements for whatever you can do.
