🦋✨ A special workshop celebrating the energy, history, and expressive power of old school reggaeton 🦋✨
This class is all about movement, confidence, and connecting with reggaeton’s roots, inspired by legendary artists like Ivy Queen, Tego Calderón, Glory, Daddy Yankee, and more.
Led by Tropican Dance, an Afro-Cuban dancer with deep training in Afro-Latin traditions, we’ll explore movement that honours reggaeton’s Afro-diasporic foundations as a dance born on the streets through cultural resilience and resistance.
We'll learn a full individual choreography together, to a classic old-school reggaeton track (we’ll vote on the song!), with a focus on flow, sensuality, and freedom. ✨
In the last 30 minutes, we'll offer the chance to film in small groups with Tropican Dance as something just for you to keep. Come looking cute if you want to be filmed. We’ll also run final group run-throughs for anyone who prefers not to be on camera.
🦋✨ What to Expect
- Dance studio with proper floor and mirrors
- Warm-up rooted in Afro-Latin movement
- Breakdown of key steps from classic reggaeton and perreo
- Full individual choreography, taught step-by-step
- A supportive queer space to practice and move together as a group
- Time at the end to film in small groups with Tropican Dance. Just for you to keep, we’ll only share anything publicly with your consent
This workshop is open to all levels. It’s for anyone who wants to connect with the roots of reggaeton, explore their own movement, and take home a recording of the moment.
✨ Come in something you feel cute in, but most importantly, something you can move in! If you want to try dancing in heels, bring them along, but they’re totally optional.
