Rainbow Therapy in Scotland: Exploring Sexual Scripts in Therapy
Exploring Sexual Scripts in Therapy: A WorkshopSex doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Our culture, history, experiences & values all come with us into the bedroom. This workshop provides space for participants- in their capacity as therapists, as clients and as individuals navigating their own sexual lives- to reflect upon the normalised sexual scripts of our society & the impact these have on our intimate lives. We will explore the ways mainstream scripts show up in therapy & identify how to support ourselves & our clients to challenge the life-limiting constraints that unconscious, rigid adherence to these mainstream scripts has on our sexual health and wellbeing. Questions we will explore through guided activities, reflection & discussion:What are Sexual Scripts and what impact do they have? How do sexual scripts show up in therapy? How can therapists avoid perpetuating harmful scripts without compromising alliance or asserting their own agenda? Why do people have sex? How to explore sexual motivations with clientsWhat sex-positivity is & how to incorporate into therapeutic practice Talking about sex in GSRD- inclusive way How to go off-script / support clients to go off-script⭐All attendees of this event will receive a unique discount code for the Rainbow Therapy conference on 26th September 2025! ⭐
