It's June, and you know what that means! The Pride edition of the Saffron Cherry cabaret is afoot! Join us at 9pm Sunday the 15th of June at Paradise Palms with another stacked lineup of all-QTPOC talent, hosted as always by your favourite hunky himbo Butch Ca$hidy.
Everyone is welcome to share in this celebration of QTPOC artistry, performance, and joy with us.
Doors: 9pm
Show starts: 9:30pm
Ticket Info:
Over the past 2 years of running Saffron Cherry, we’ve built an amazing community of queer and trans POC. We are the only Edinburgh-based QTPOC cabaret and community group, and for this reason it’s really important for us to keep putting on events like this and cultivating queer POC joy. We stand for providing well-paid opportunities for QTPOC performers, and affordable tickets for QTPOC folk. In order to continue doing all of these things, we need to raise funds. If you appreciate the work that Saffron Cherry does, or if you’re feeling generous, please choose the Generous Ticket/Pay What You Can option.
If you are not QTPOC, but are marginalised based on another factor e.g. sexuality, gender, ethnicity, please choose the “Marginalised Ally” ticket tier.
If you aren't able to afford a ticket please DM us, we have a limited number of free/discounted tickets available, QTPOC will be given precedence. There will also be a limited amount of full-price tickets on the door.
Accessibility:
- There is a small step to enter the venue, with a ramp available at staff request. There is no wheelchair-accessible toilet (toilets are down 2 flights of stairs), but it’s possible to use the wheelchair-accessible toilet in Boteco (bar) next door.
- The show is mostly seated, with standing room by the bar. If you need a seat for accessibility reasons, DM us and we can reserve you one.
- The venue music volume outwith the show can get fairly loud at times, so if you have noise sensitivity, earplugs may be a good idea to bring.
- The venue doesn't have official ventilation protocols (the door is often open but there is no air filtration) and is fairly cosy, so if you believe that you are at risk of transmitting any kind of respiratory infection we would encourage taking an LFT, masking, or considering not coming to the event. We are happy to refund tickets if you can't come due to having Covid. A limited amount of surgical masks will be available at the event, just ask any of the organisers.
Safer spaces commitments :
- Please be considerate of others' lived experience at all Saffron Cherry events, and treat others with kindness and respect.
- While our cabaret events are open to all, it is important for non-QTPOC attendees to remember that this is a space that prioritises the safety and experiences of QTPOC, and to be mindful of their place as guests in the space.
Safeguarding:
- Butch is a point of contact for issues, and Jay, who is stage butching, can pass on messages if Butch is busy doing cabaret-running
- We have the lovely Jj on the door who’s checking that everyone coming in:
- has a ticket
- knows there is a show on, and what kind of show it is
- is likely to be respectful of the space
- is not banned from our events
- Jj is also be able to let either Butch or the bar staff know if there’s an issue.
- Ria is also a point of contact in case there's any issues during the show
the bar staff are nice, and generally queer or queer-friendly, and have the ability to remove anyone who is actively being hostile or endangering someone from the space. Paradise Palms is a public bar, and, while the event is ticketed, we don’t have control over the entire space (namely the restaurant area). We would ask, if anyone is in immediate danger of physical violence, that the staff be notified immediately and directly, so the danger can be dealt with as soon as possible.
