A Night of Live Music & Spoken Word for Gender-Affirming Care
Presented by Glass Closet Events
BUILT DIFFERENT is a queer-led music night all about trans joy, community care, and showing up for each other. The best part? The funds will go toward helping our pal Tarquin (Ty) afford gender-affirming surgery!
Expect a mix of amazing live music from a bunch of talented artists, each bringing their own sound and energy. Rock, pop, poetry, world-fusion, and whatever else happens on the night. It’s a bit of everything, and it’s all incredible.
So, who’s on stage? Glad you asked!
Kid Anansi
The poetic equivalent of finding out that the drinks machine in your local McDonalds has replaced its
Pepsi button with spiced rum. Kid Anansi is confusing, frightening, delicious with ginger ale and
lemon, and unhealthy in large doses. His poetry will have you laughing, crying, biting your knuckles
in second-hand embarrassment, or all three, mixing history and melancholy with slapstick humour
and inimitable energy. A regular face on the BAFTA Award winning first season of Life & Rhymes, and
host of poetry nights around London. His one man show: FIRST premiered in London from August to
September.
Izzy Nixon
Currently residing in South West London, Izzy Nixon is an all round Welsh creative, currently
focussing primarily on her artistry as a singer-songwriter and music photographer. Inspired lyrically
by the likes of Adele, Yonaka and Abby Powledge, Izzy explores the cathartic nature of songwriting
through her lyricism.
Mia Joan
A haunted writer tells stories of heartbreak, addiction, and love. Medicine includes cats and reverb.
Side effects of paranoia.
NYSZA
NYSZA //pronounced nice-uh// hails from a tiny Himalayan village in India and fuses folk storytelling
traditions and poetry, with jazz-informed pop and world rhythms to create her own eclectic brand of
urban-world-fusion music. NYSZA aims to fuse warring cultural identities and influences to tell the
stories worth telling --- about issues that affect us universally.
The Ology’s
The Ology’s are a female fronted, 5 piece indie pop/rock band primarily based in the London area.
Beginning in 2020, The Ology’s combine their respective creative flares to make music that speaks to
everyone. Their nostalgic sound and good vibes are contagious amongst crowds, having played
multiple venues around London, Beds, Bucks and Bournemouth.
Don’t Wake The Neighbours
Don’t Wake the Neighbours are a 7 piece band who play original rock music with influences from all
across the musical spectrum. Their catchy hooks and harmonies mixed with classic rock guitars and drums create a great sound
that is sure to get you (and the neighbours) jumping.
We're also going to have a tricky tray raffle - buy a ticket and pop it into the prize draw for any item you like, with higher chances of winning something you love than a standard raffle. We have some fab prizes available including…
& More to come!
