Requiem is a week-long residency by musician Lainey Dempsey and artist Rachael Flynn, exploring the untold stories of Irish women who migrated to Scotland.
Visitors are invited to take part in an evolving installation - a living, alternative archive of women’s lives - by sharing stories, letters and folk songs during Open Studio drop-ins on Monday 4, Wednesday 6 and Friday 8 August. The Deep End, 21 Nithsdale Street 12pm-3pm.
These everyday contributions will shape a shared space of remembrance: how memory is carried across distances, how legacy is passed between generations, how women’s histories often endure outside official records. The residency concludes with a Closing Gathering on Saturday, sharing the micro-histories and discoveries unearthed throughout the week.
We especially welcome voices with ties to Irish-Scottish migration.
