La Monocle: Une Terrasse Ombragée
(A Shaded Terrace)
Sunday 27th July | 6:30pm – 11:00pm
Little Louie, Elephant Park
Join us at La Monocle for our newest chapter – Une Terrasse Ombragée – a nod to summer evenings spent under the soft shade of trees, drink in hand, music drifting through the air. This marks the beginning of our permanent residency at Little Louie, where we'll be hosting events every last Sunday of the month.
Expect an evening of curated sounds, gorgeous drinks, and community celebration. We’re setting up a dedicated FLINTA (Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans and Agender) merch station, alongside our own La Monocle designs. You’ll also find our new Community Board, spotlighting FLINTA-run brands and collectives – a place to connect, support, and discover.
Our theme this month? The 1920s. Think elegance, extravagance, and expression. Dress to impress – there’ll be prizes for best dressed announced throughout the night.
Whether you're here to dance, lounge, connect, or simply soak in the atmosphere – Une Terrasse Ombragée promises a beautiful start to your summer.
Tickets are £5, which helps us cover the essentials and keep things running smoothly. We’re committed to keeping our events as accessible as possible — if you need a concession ticket, please don’t hesitate to reach out to contact@lamonocle.co.uk to speak to a member of the team.
La Monocle is a queer community bar and cultural space rooted in the values of inclusivity, empowerment, and resistance. Inspired by the historical legacy of lesbian and FLINTA* spaces, our mission is to create a safe, joyful, and affirming environment for FLINTA* (Frauen, Lesben, inter, nicht-binäre, trans und agender Personen) and lesbian individuals.
La Monocle is explicitly trans-inclusive and anti-discriminatory. We do not welcome TERFs or any exclusionary ideologies — our space is built on intersectional feminism, solidarity, and care. Our aim is to foster a community where queer people, particularly those marginalized within mainstream LGBTQ+ venues, can connect, organize, celebrate, and rest.
More than just a bar, La Monocle envisions itself as a cultural hub — hosting events, performances, readings, and discussions that centre queer and feminist voices. It is a place for both resistance and pleasure, honouring the radical history of lesbian and FLINTA* spaces while responding to the urgent needs of today’s queer communities.
