Rainbow Therapy in Scotland's Annual National Conference for GSRD (Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diversity) therapists and therapists working with GSRD clients. Trainees more than welcome!
Caring for Queer Bodies is our theme this year, a subject which feels increasingly more important each passing day. Through a blend of presentations, workshops, creative activities, and embodied reflections - we will be exploring what care looks like for us as therapists and for our clients. We have scheduled over a dozen different contributors to assist us in offering this incredible opportunity to build on our existing knowledge, challenge some of our unexamined beliefs, and to encounter new ways of being, practicing, and connecting.
We are delighted to be welcoming Ellis J Johnson as our keynote speaker - on Decolonising Care for Queer Bodies. Ellis J. Johnson MBACP (he/him) is a psychodynamic psychotherapeutic counsellor and trainer, working primarily with transgender, non-binary, queer and questioning people in private practice. He is an Advanced Accredited Gender, Sex and Relationship Diversity Therapist and a Clinical Associate with Pink Therapy. His work is grounded in attending to the intersections of race, class and coloniality across both his clinical and training practice. In this session, we will consider the impact of Empire and colonialism on our connection with body, mind, spirit, Earth and one another.
Participants will have a choice of workshops from therapists of different modalities, community organisers, and educators. Throughout the day, there will also be a dedicated, low-stimulus, quiet space available.
It is an incredible honour to be welcoming an international collective of queer dramatherapists to present and perform together for the first time!
Inviting us to engage with The Nature of Queer Bodies in Drama and Movement Therapy, this performance, presentation and collective creation will be shared by a group of queer dramatherapists who are practicing, learning and researching creative approaches to therapy in various settings, and who have shared community peer support online together over the last few years.
With a focus on embodied expression, and working alongside and outwith verbal exploration, we would like to share something with you of our journeys as queer therapists working with drama, the arts and nature, and to navigate something of the impact of living in queer bodies, alongside you. We’d like to offer for conference participants to leave with some space, and a sense of nurture; for our authentic, natural, queer selves.
Full details of the event, additional presenters, and workshops can be found here.
We receive no funding for our events and are non-profit making, therefore ticket sales must cover all costs. We have a small number of fully funded spaces available. Please read the descriptions of each ticket type before check out.
