Did you know that only about 5% of PhD students in the UK are Black?
Let's raise that number one student at a time.
Antoinette is a British-Jamaican literary scholar who explores the legacy of colonialism in the sciences, culture, art, and more. They have provided invaluable research on the climate crisis, arguing for the decolonisation of climate discourse. They’ve now been offered a place at the University of Cambridge to examine how evolution is depicted in Caribbean sci-fi literature as an act of resistance.
This incredible offer, however, has one condition: they need to provide evidence of £29,356.00. We now need to help Ant fund their PHD, because vibes unfortunately aren’t legal tender.
Join us for a cheeky fundraiser on 16th August, where we will rejoice in crafts, dance, and interesting discourse. This carnival is a perfect way to spend your Saturday afternoon - watching our amazing performances, eating delicious food, looking for gold in the market, and hoping to win that raffle prize! Bring your friends, lovers, and everything in between and help this broke scholar beat the Cambridge paywall!
*All revenue from ticket sales will go directly to funding Ant's PHD. Each ticket includes 2 raffle tickets
Individual Raffle ticket cost: £2 each - additional tickets can be purchased on the door.
