What systems, manners and manifestations of care arise through queerness?
Globally, across environmental, political and community sectors, we notice a growing need for care. In a queer context, care can manifest in radical acts: through protest, mourning, vigils and in the creation of chosen families.
Join artists Gareth Hart (Naarm/Melbourne) and Daniel Regan (London) for a day of conversations and creative activities centred on the theme of queer care.
This project is part of a wider collaboration between Gareth and Daniel, who met in Naarm/Melbourne in 2022 and have since developed a friendship rooted in shared care practices.
In September 2025, they will undertake a two-week residency split between QUEERCIRCLE and Daniel’s London studio, where they will explore how care can act as a central force in both creative and community spaces culminating in this public programme.
This project is supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture Programme and Arts & Health Hub.
You are welcome to join for the full day or drop in for specific sessions.
PANEL DISCUSSION
10.30 - 12 PM
This informal panel discussion brings together artists from different disciplines across the UK and Australia to explore what care looks like in their varied creative practices.
A CARE WALK: FINDING CARE IN THE EMBODIED EVERYDAY
1 - 2.30 PM
Through this journey, we will share in moments to heighten our sensory perceptions, converse around care, slow down, and embody queer care in place. Amongst the chaos of a mega-city, what space can we hold for care, connection, joy and exhaling?
During the walk, we will engage in simple creative and care activities that open up our thinking to care practices as essential.
WORKSHOP: GIFT OF CARE
3.30 - 5 PM
A creative workshop that explores notions of self and collective care, acknowledging that what queer people often need in relation to care in all its guises can be different from heteronormative practices.
How can we gift ourselves the permission to ask for what we need, and collectively resource new interpretations of what care for ourselves and our community looks like?
