Join The Muslim Social Justice Initiative (MSJI) for a special evening celebrating the Manchester launch of The Sudanese Kitchen by Omer Al-Tijani - a groundbreaking cookbook and cultural archive preserving Sudanese recipes, stories, and heritage.
Part cookbook, part political act, The Sudanese Kitchen is a love letter to Sudanese food, communities, and memory in the face of displacement, erasure, and war.
In partnership with Almas Art Foundation, this event will include a conversation with Omer about the inspiration behind the book, the process of documenting recipes across Sudanese regions and diasporas, and the role of food in resistance and remembrance.
