QM Spotlights is our platform for showcasing original work from emerging and established LGBTQ+ creatives — from performance art to theatre, spoken word, and beyond.
“Is anywhere really home for people like us?”
It's Friday night and the streets of Soho are overflowing.
Lucky for some.
But best friends Richard and Benny are far from the city, squeezed into a corner booth at a quiet, sleepy country pub, ready to collect Theo after his break away from the noise in London.
The thing is, no one has spoken about what happened THAT night - or why Theo walked away.
When a curious stranger joins their tight-knit table, the evening quickly unravels. Old wounds and hidden truths surface as the friends struggle to play happy chosen families.
Butterfly Boys is a funny, tense, and tender exploration of friendship, queer identity, and belonging - and how one night can make you question everything.
Join us for an intimate script reading of Alexander Morris' new play
Alexander Morris trained at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, with credits including Watership Down (Watermill Theatre), Poldark (BBC), The More You Ignore Me (Genesius Films), Father Brown (BBC), and the upcoming short film You And Me Makes Three (Lezmakesfilms).
Alongside his acting career, Alexander is an emerging writer. A graduate of Omnibus Theatre’s Omni-Write programme, Alexander workshopped and developed his debut play, Butterfly Boys, which he is proud to present in this work-in-progress reading in partnership with Queer Minds Spotlight. His writing explores themes of identity, belonging, and the complexities of queer connection.
