Join vocal facilitator and researcher, margomool, for this two-hour workshop exploring how embodied practices can help trans and gnc people to connect to themselves. Primarily using the voice but also incorporating movement and drawing, margo will offer embodied exercises that move us to states of regulation, as well as avenues toward release and joy. Space will be created to discuss each other's embodied rituals and to forge new ones that help us be a little more here in the world.
About the faciliator:
margomool is a vocalist, facilitator, producer and researcher exploring how the voice can be used as a tool for generating body autonomy and belonging. Over the past eight years, they have worked across the UK with organisations such as QUEERCIRCLE, the Philharmonia Orchestra and Dance Umbrella, specialising in supporting people who are queer, trans+, disabled, chronically ill and or neurodivergent to use their voice as a creative regulatory tool. In 2023, margo founded Trans Chorus - a vocal exploration space where trans+ folks can experience their voice in community and outside of gendered expectations. Since starting Trans Chorus, they have gone on to produce pieces of embodied research born from queer communal singing spaces, such as the Queering the Voice course, the Embodied Voice podcast and the Transcestry performance for the Museum of Transology.
About Queer Minds:
Queer Minds is a peer support group for LGBTQIA+ people (aged 18+) who live, work or play in Lambeth and Southwark. This group is by us, for us and is for those who are looking to connect with others. We engage in discussions and activities around topics that the group wants to explore, which has included depression and anxiety, building support networks, neurodivergence, and the connection between the mind and the body. You can find more information about the group on the Queer Minds website: selmind.org.uk/queermindsls.
Thank you to Lambeth Links for funding our Lambeth group and this series of psychoeducational workshops.
The 3Space ground floor is wheelchair accessible with step-free access. Ground floor toilets are gender neutral and wheelchair accessible.
