Six Wines and the Five-course Gourmet Feast The Best of New Zealand, North and South, with Master of Wine Peter McCombie, including Magnums.
Peter McCombie, the highly entertaining New Zealand Master of Wine, will take us on a tasting tour of New Zealand’s best wine regions from Hawkes Bay down to Central Otago via Marlborough - in the stunning surrounds of the magical medieval Crypt in Ely Place, adjoining Bleeding Heart Yard .We will start the evening in the Crypt’s secret Cloister Garden with Magnums of Wild Sauvignon Blanc from Greywacke, the Marlborough winery created by Kevin Judd, the Kiwi winemaker responsible for New Zealand’s most iconic wine back in the eighties, the globally-renowned Cloudy Bay. And fittingly we will finish with Kevin’s rarely -listed Botrytis Pinot Gris to match the dessert - a Nectarine Pavlova. In between we’ll taste an award-winning Hawkes Bay Chardonnay, the Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels HOMAGE Syrah 2016 in Magnum , which was awarded 98 points by the eminent American wine critic James Suckling, and two quite different Pinot Noirs -one from Marlborough and one from Central Otago.
